We were sad that the dance camp was over, but not for long because the next leg of our trip was one that we were really looking forward to! Â One of my close friends from high school is living in Helsinki, Finland with her boyfriend and we got to go and see her!!! Â But this post isn’t about that yet because we had several bus rides, a subway ride, and an overnight ferry to take in order to get there. Â We left Herrang in the morning after the camp was over and arrived in Helsinki about 24 hours later.
The ferry was not quite what I had pictured. Â I knew that people take it as a kind of party boat, but I didn’t expect a full on cruise ship. Â It was enormous! Â We got shared cabins and in this case it meant we had to sleep in different rooms. Â There were four people to a room and each room had a small bathroom with a shower. Â Pretty comfy.
The scenery was incredibly beautiful. Â There are lots of little islands off the coast of Sweden and many of them have houses and boats and generally look like they would be great places for a vacation. Â We were feeling fairly tired after all of our dancing, so we started the trip with a quick nap and then went up on deck to eat the picnic we had brought with us.
As we were sitting outside drinking our wine we made friends with a guy from Finland who wanted to chat. Â We ended up staying up much later than expected talking with him. Â He was really into roller coasters, and had even traveled to New Jersey just to go on the largest roller coaster in the world.
We had a fun night and loved seeing the Baltic Sea. Â And when we woke up the next morning it was time to see Tania!
