We made it to Niagara Falls, Canada and checked in to a cute little cabin.  It had two bedrooms, a living room, bathroom, and really nice lawn with picnic table out back.  We were worried about the weather since there were thunderstorms in the area, but in the end we were so lucky because it was sunny during the day and the big storms came at night.  Our hotel was close enough to the falls that we could walk down, and we had fun taking lots of photos on the way.  Click on any of these to see the photo gallery!

We got great views of both sides of the falls and had a really nice walk along the river.  The dog enjoyed it too!

We decided to skip the “Maid of the Mist” boat ride that takes you close to the falls and gets you soaking wet, but we did do the walk behind the falls.

They give you a bright yellow poncho and then you take an elevator down into the tunnels behind the falls.

The view from behind the falls was kind of funny – it was just a huge wall of water, so you actually didn’t see that much.  But there was a really great viewpoint right up close to the falls about 2/3 of the way to the bottom of them.  There was so much mist coming off the falls that it looked like the weather had changed!  It was hard to take pictures there without getting the camera soaked, but a very cool experience to get so close to the water!

We went to the Syndicate Brewery for dinner (after an awesome appetizer of fresh bread and cheese, wine, and cuban cigars on the back picnic table) and had a lot of tasty food and beer.  I got the poutine – a Canadian dish featuring french fries, gravy, and cheese curds.  So tasty, so bad for me!

We had an awesome time seeing the falls and visiting Canada!  It was a short stop because we were heading south again to see Justin’s sister’s graduation.
